Inside the Arizona Home Connected to Nancy Guthrie’s Disappearance: Property History and Important Details

In 1975, a single-story home in the Catalina Foothills area of Tucson, Arizona, sold for less than $100,000. Today, the same property is valued at nearly $1.1 million. For almost five decades, it was known as the family home where “Today” show anchor Savannah Guthrie spent her childhood. Recently, however, the residence has drawn national attention after becoming part of an active investigation involving her 84-year-old mother, Nancy. What was once a quiet desert retreat filled with family milestones is now surrounded by law enforcement activity and community concern.

Savannah was born in Melbourne, Australia, in 1971, before her family relocated to the United States a few years later. When they settled in Tucson, this home became the foundation of her upbringing. The one-story house served as the backdrop for everyday routines and cherished traditions — from church services at Casas Adobes Baptist Church to simple afternoons spent outdoors with her father. The stability of that environment helped shape the future journalist, who later attended the University of Arizona before building a nationally recognized broadcasting career. Despite her professional success, the Tucson house always remained a meaningful starting point.

Built in 1969, the 3,776-square-foot residence sits on a full acre of Sonoran Desert land. It features five bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms, reflecting both the style and scale typical of the Catalina Foothills neighborhood. Property records show the home was once listed for sale in 2007 but was later taken off the market. Nancy chose to remain there, preserving the place that had witnessed decades of family history — from joyful celebrations to difficult moments, including the sudden passing of Savannah’s father in 1988. Through every chapter, the house remained a constant presence.

Authorities have confirmed that Nancy was last seen at the property before her disappearance, and investigators from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department are continuing their work. Officials have stated that the home is being processed as part of an ongoing investigation and have asked for the public’s assistance with any relevant information. As the case develops, the residence stands as a powerful reminder of how quickly life can change — a place once defined by faith, family, and familiarity now at the heart of a search for answers.
